What this platform is

This platform is a reference resource. Each listing contains factual, structured information about a software tool: what it does, who makes it, where the vendor is based, and what type of organisations it is typically suited to.

Listings are not paid placements. Affiliate participation is not required for inclusion and has no influence on how a tool is presented. Some links are affiliate links — these are clearly labelled. See the affiliate disclosure for details.

Information is provided for orientation. Software products, company structures, and data policies change. Always verify details with the software provider before making decisions.

What this platform is not

  • Not a review site: no scores, ratings, or star systems
  • Not a ranking site: no “Top 10” or “Best of” lists
  • Not a pricing comparison: pricing and feature tables are not maintained
  • Not a paid placement platform: affiliate participation is not required for listing

Listing criteria

Every tool listed as EU-based meets all three of the following criteria at the time of listing:

  • Headquarters: the vendor must be registered in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
  • Ownership: the company must be majority-owned by EU, EEA, UK, or Swiss entities. A European subsidiary of a non-EU parent does not qualify.
  • Data residency: the product must offer data hosting on European soil as a default or standard option.

Not every tool fits neatly into these criteria. The following labels are used to handle edge cases transparently:

  • EU-based: meets all three criteria. This is the standard listing type.
  • EU-hosted (non-EU vendor): the vendor is not EU-based, but offers European data hosting as a default or standard option. Listed as an intermediate alternative where EU-based options are limited.
  • Formerly EU-based: the vendor met the EU criteria at the time of listing but has since been acquired, relocated, or changed its data policy. The listing is retained with this label for reference.

Accuracy

This platform makes reasonable efforts to keep information current. However, software products, company structures, and data policies change. Information on this platform may not be fully up to date at all times.

If you notice an inaccuracy or are aware of a change to a listed vendor’s status, please contact us at contact@eusoftwarealternatives.eu.
Always verify critical details, including data hosting, ownership, and contractual terms, directly with the software provider before making decisions.

Affiliate transparency

EU Software Alternatives is a free resource. To cover hosting, research, and editorial costs, the platform uses affiliate links where available.
When you click a link marked as an affiliate link and subsequently sign up or purchase, we may receive a commission. This is at no extra cost to you.

Affiliate participation is not required for a tool to be listed. Many listed tools have no affiliate programme and are linked directly to their official website.
Affiliate relationships do not affect the content of a profile, the order in which tools appear, or which use case groups a tool is placed in.
